Ben and I miscommunicated about the nature of the documentary, so he didn't know that I was going to videotape it. As he was unable to clear and check with his agent (he's a SAG member) in the time I was there, I aimed the camera at the wall and simply talked to him about his running an AIDS BBS in the early 1980s, and the disease started to break into the open and the public perceptions. It was riveting.
