"A truly fascinating documentary about an increasingly obscure and obsolete technology.
Prior to watching "BBS The Documentary" I had never heard of Bulletin Board Systems,
let alone participated in that culture, yet by the end of this epic doc, I found myself
longing for the BBS days, back before the Internet consumed and dominated the world."

"Anyone nostalgic for those halcyon days can now thank digital archivist and
filmmaker Jason Scott for BBS: The Documentary, a five-and-a-half-hour paean
to the era when computers were named Stacy and Lisa, and tech loyalists fought
bitter battles over the superiority of Ataris to Amigas."

"For those of you who fondly remember the BBS era, this video is a must-have and
recommended viewing. It is entertaining, it is informative, and it is exceptionally
well done. For those of you too young to remember, it is a trip back in time to a
part of our computing history that is well worth exploring."

"BBS" offers an incredibly engrossing look at the rise and fall of the BBS community,
culture and business through the eyes of over 200 fascinating and varied participants.
It's marvelously done, with excellent camerawork and editing for a documentary that
was essentially built from scratch. The DVD edition is terrific, offering a lot of
supplemental features and fine audio/video quality."

If you spent any amount of your youth calling BBSs, these DVDs will instantly take you
back 20 years. I heard so many stories that I could relate to during these episodes
that it was almost like sitting around a campfire, listening to old friends share
stories about the .good old days.. Jason Scott has done a superb job of capturing
the passion and excitement of the BBS era and presenting that to viewers. BBS:
The Documentary is both informative and entertaining. Those who were there will
watch the episodes constantly grinning and nodding, while those who weren't will
listen to the stories in awe."

ROBB SHERWIN SAYS....

"I have no idea what that packaging format is actually called, because all of the ratty movies I buy (or more accurately, get sent in the mail to me from Columbia House and then don't quite get around to returning) use sleeves inferior to what this set comes in. If the guy who put out the Saw DVD, for instance, ever even so much as just looked at the packaging to this thing his eyes would catch fire and burst into lacrymotic slag. BBS: The Documentary is better presented than Half-Life II and Civ 4 for chrissakes."
