ANSI Graphics (Y/N)? {Enter Y or N followed by Q for quit opening}

      'A' - Alter file flags
This command allows you to change the flagged file list
without having to do a file listings and get a PAUSE...MORE
prompt to change the flags. This is good only for the current
             conference that you're in.
Chaining data is allowed, or the routine will prompt you.

First it will show the current list of flags.

              No file flags
              Filename(s) to flag: (C)lear, (Enter)=none?

              At this prompt you may:
               1. Enter new files to add to the flag list
               2. Enter 'C' to goto the clear flag prompt

              Filename(s) to Clear: (*)All, (Enter)=none?

              At this prompt you may:
               1. Enter filenames to remove from the flag list
wildcards are not valid at this point.
               2. Using '*' will remove all filenames in the list.
               3. Or (Enter) to exit.

      'B' - Bulletins
Displays a list of Bulletins if available in the current
conference. Choose a bulletin number to read or (Enter) to
             return to Main Menu.

             Stacked command: B 1 Read Bulletin 1

      'C' - Comment to SYSOP(s)
This command is the same as entering a message, except the
             message is to the SYSOP(s).

      'D' - Download a file
You can only download files that are in the conference you're
currently in. You can't flag files in one conference, then
join a different conference and still download those flagged
             files.

             1. The BBS displays the your download/upload stats.

             2. The BBS then figures out what ratio limits you have left
                before uploading.

             3. Wildcards are allowed, for example: '*.*' or 'DEMO*.ZIP'

             4. As the BBS finds a file and displays the amount of time
required and how big, if you can d/l it, the BBS
automatically checks the flaglist and if there isn't
already a entry like the one just found, then it adds it
to the flag list. This is so if you want to exit the d/l
routine to list a file area again, you don't have to type
the filenames in again. If you need to remove a file you
don't want to download, just use 'A'lter flags command.

             6. After hitting (Enter) on a blank filespec prompt the BBS
displays the totals and checks to see if you can download
                the files within your limits.

             7. Asks "(Enter) to Start, (G)oodbye after transfer,
                      (P)rotocol, (A)bort?"
Specifying 'A'bort will exit out of the download routine.
'G'oodbye after transfer will give you 1 minute to decide
whether you really want to logoff or not.
'P'rotocol lets you change your current transfer protocol.

             Stacked command: D Filename1 Filename2 Filename3

      'E'- Enter a message.
If you're addressing a person who doesn't have access to the
conference you're in, they will never get that message.

             1. Asks for who to send it to. If a wildcard is used the
search will find the first user that fits the wildcard and
will display it and then ask if its correct, if you say no,
then it will search forward. If it doesn't find the user,
it exit back to the Main Menu prompt.

             2. If you just hit (Enter) on the TO: prompt it will send
the message to ALL. This will be a public message.

             3. Another name that is valid in the TO: prompt is SYSOP, this
will be replaced by the Name of the SYSOP, in user slot 1.

             4. Next prompt is the Subject of the message, if you just
hit (Enter) it will exit back to the Main Menu prompt.

             5. The BBS will now ask if the message is to be readable only
by the receiver of the message.

             6. Now you have entered the message editor.

             7. Tabs now work in the editor, they are indicated by a '|' in
                the header.

             8. Ctrl-X in the message editor will delete the current line.

             9. If you hit (Enter) on a blank line you will exit the
message editor to the Edit Command prompt.

            10. The options are:

                 1. A)bort - Abort entering the message.

                 2. C)ont - Continue entering the message, this option
will print the last line with text and put
the cursor at the end of the line.

                 3. D)elete - Allows you to delete a specific line(s).

                 4. E)dit - Allows you to change text within a line.

                 5. L)ist - List the message to the screen.

                 6. S)ave - Saves the message.

      'F' - File listings
File listing will list files in the current conference
or from all conferences, if you want so.

             1. A listing of file directories will be displayed. Type the
directory number to see the list of files, or (Enter) by
itself to return to the Main Menu prompt.

             2. The specified directory will be displayed and will pause
unless NS (Non-Stop) has been specified.

             3. On the pause prompt, you can select 'F' for flagging files.

Stacked commands: F A NS - list all files in this conf
                                          with NoStop (NS)
F U - list all files in upload dir
                                    F 1 - list all files in directory #1
F G - list all files from all confs

      'G' - Goodbye

             1. The system then checks to see if there are any partial
downloads that the you haven't finished receiving yet.
If so then it will let you know and ask if you want to
leave anyway. If you don't want to leave,
then you will get back to the main prompt.

             2. The BBS will display the Log-Off screen.

      'H' - Help

             1. The BBS will display this file.

      'J' - Join

             1. The BBS will display a list of conferences that you have
access to. Type the number of the conference you want to
go to or (Enter) to return to the Main Menu prompt.

             Stacked commands: J 1 Join Conference 1
J SUPPORT Joins to first conference
                                           which has word 'SUPPORT' in

            monochrome display.

      'N' - New files since.
This allows you to list just the files that have been added to
the BBS since the last time you've called. This will only show
new files for the conference that you're currently in.

             1. It will then ask for the date you want to list from.
The last date you were on will be the default. This is
selected by just hitting (Enter) alone. Entering the date
to start the list from must be done as DD-MM-YY.

             2. Next the BBS asks for the directory to search thru. An 'A'
can be used to list all directories, also 'U' can be
specified for the Upload directory. 'G' can be used to list
all new files from all conferences you have access to.

             3. The Pause prompt works the same as described in the file
                listing section.

      'T' - Time
This function shows the current time and date at the BBS.

      'U' - Upload
This function allows you to send files to the BBS.

             1. The BBS shows the amount of free space. And possible
                Upload rules for this conference.

             2. At this point the BBS checks to see if you have any
incomplete uploads. If there are any it asks if you want
                to resume your uploads.

             3. The BBS then asks you to enter the filenames of the files
you wish to upload. Pressing (Enter) alone will have
ZModem/HSLink tell the BBS the names.

             4. If you enter filenames, the BBS will check to make sure
they don't already exist. If not, the BBS will prompt you
to enter a description for each file. Enter a blank line
                to end the description.

             5. Next the BBS will display:

                (Enter) to Start, (P)rotocol, (G)oodbye, (A)bort?

This works the same as specified in the download routines.

             6. Once the transfer has completed the BBS displays the stats
from the transfer for all the files and the time used is
                credited for the uploads.

             7. The BBS checks files to see if they have a FILE_ID.DIZ
and probably adds some stupid bbs-advertisements. You
will also be prompted for file descriptions if you've let
ZModem/HSLink tell the BBS the file names.

             8. Once the description has been entered the BBS moves the
                files to the upload directory.

      'V' - View a file
This function will allow you to view (read) a text file that is
            in the file listings.

             1. The BBS asks for the filename to view. The BBS will only
display a plain, uncompressed text file.

             Stacked command: V Filename.txt

      'W' - Write info
This function allows you to change a couple of items about
            yourself.

            every command you issue.

      'Z' - Zippy search

             1. The BBS will ask for the string to search for, this search
is NOT case sensitive. If you just press (Enter), it will
exit back to the Main Menu prompt.

             2. Next it will ask for the directory to search thru, options

Part #12 - Questions And Answers
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

QUESTION: How do I add, delete, and modify conferences?

ANSWER: In the C:\BBS\ACP directory, there are .NFO and .ANS and .ASC files.
Each one has a name that corresponds to the conference access that a user has.
So, if a file is named SYSOP.NFO, that is an access name. In the usereditor,
there is a field that says "Conf. Access". By putting SYSOP in that blank,
the user will have access to all conferences listed in the sysop.nfo. Also,
the sysop.ans conference selection screen will be shown to someone who has
SYSOP access. If the file was call TRSI.NFO, .ANS, and .ASC, then you would
put the word TRSI in the "Conf. Access". As for making and deleteing con-
ferences, go into the main BBS directory and edit the file CONFCFG.CF0. You
will see how they are made by looking in this file.

QUESTION: I want to add a few SysOps and Co-SysOps to the multi-comment door
(C from the main menu). How would I do this?

ANSWER: First you must edit MULTICOM.CFG file in the main BBS Directory. The
number at the top is the number of SysOp and Co-Sysops you want in the comment
door. The names below this are the names of the SysOps and Co-SysOps in the
order you have them in the MULTICOM.ANS (located in the TEXT directory). After
finishing this, you must edit the MULTICOM.ANS to show the names of the people
you have just put in the MULTICOM.CFG. Also, make a note that when the user
picks the SysOp or Co-SysOp he wants to mail, it shows a brief comment from
the SysOp or Co-SysOp he chose. These can be made or modified with the
MCOMX.ANS files in the TEXT directory. The X stands for the number of the
SysOp or Co-SysOp that has been selected. Take a look at these files to get
a better idea of how this works.

QUESTION: How do I change the words and colors of the strings (such as prompts
and commands)?

ANSWER: Go into the main BBS directory and edit the STRS1.CF0 file. This file
contains most of the strongs found in the BBS. To change the color of a
string, use @X0x, where the small x is the number of the color (consult a
program such as THE DRAW for the numbers for each different color).

QUESTION: What is this "Conference Accounting" in the User Editor, and why
are the person's ratios different than those that I have set in the User
Editor?

ANSWER: Conference Accounting is an option that allows the information set in
the USERS.CNF file (located in each conference directory) to be the ACTUAL
information that is used for the user. To edit this, copy the CF.EXE from the
main BBS directory into your the conference directory, and execute it. Now search
for the user you wish to edit (using F2). If you'll notice, there are fields
to change the persons ratio, ratio type (0= Bytes and # of Files, 1= # of
files ONLY, 2= Bytes ONLY, 3= Disabled Ratios), daily byte limits, etc. These
are the information used for the user IF Conference Accounting is set in the
main user editor.

QUESTION: I have given ever user with access 50 access to a certain command.
But there is this one user who I don't want to have the option of listing
users. How would I change a certain user's eaccess to certain commands without
messing up everybody else's access?

ANSWER: Go into the User Editor and hit F5. In this screen, you will see a
list of all of the commands from the main menu. By tagging the User Defined
Keys option in the lower right-hand corner of this screen, you will activate
the option to use these commands. So, after tagging the User Defined Commands
option, you must tag each command that you wnat the user to have access to. If
the command is not tagged, then the user will NOT be able to access it.

QUESTION: I want to run more than two doors. How do I accomplish this?

ANSWER: Reg!

QUESTION: I have set-up Evolution for more than one node. How do I set-up
multi-node chat?

ANSWER: At this time there is not multi-node chat in Evolution. In the near
future releases, however, there will be.

QUESTION: How does the Bulletins system work?

ANSWER: When you have a utilitie that produces an ANSi or/and ASCii file,
you can have it displayed at logon and re-created with new info at log-off.
To do this, make a batch file that loads the board. In this batch file also
include the name of a second batch file that will run your utilitied.
So, if you had a utility called TOP.EXE, then you would put it in the second
bacth file like this:

@echo off

copy top.ans + logon.ans c:\bbs\text\bullall.asc

This would not only execute the utility, but it would also take the files
created by it and copy them over to the bulletins directory into a file
called BULLALL.ANS or .ASC. When a user logons to the BBS, the BULLALL.ANS
or .ASC file is displayed after the LASTCALL.ANS screen. So, if you had
multiple utilities, you would copy each newly produced screen into one big
BULLALL.ANS file, and each would be displayed at login. Also, if you want a
utility that produces a bulletin to be displayed from the bulletins menu,
copy it to the BULLS directory as a BULLX.ANS or .ASC file, with the X
standing for the # that you press from the Bulletin Menu to display the
actual bulletin.

QUESTION: How do I upload files myself?

ANSWER: First, make sure that you have the files you want uploaded in the
WORK directory. Then, go the main menu, and type local. You should be able
to handle it from there.

QUESTION: I have a FOSSIL driver. Does Evolution support it?

ANSWER: Evolution supports both FOSSIL drivers and UART 16550 chips. There is
no switch-option in config or anything like that, you need different exe-file
for both Fossil and Uart, if you dont have each one of these you can obtain
a version from the WHQ, Propaganda (see Final Words, below).

is something you want to know or ask, just call Evolution WHQ bbs
(Propaganda +358-0-8792853) and leave comment to sysop.
Also from now on, we will be releasing bugfix-updates more often.
