As the BBS finds a file and displays the amount of time required and how big, if you can d/l it, the BBS automatically checks the flaglist and if there isn't already a entry like the one just found, then it adds it to the flag list. This is so if you want to exit the d/l routine to list a file area again, you don't have to type the filenames in again. If you need to remove a file you don't want to download, just use 'A'lter flags command. 6. After hitting (Enter) on a blank filespec prompt the BBS displays the totals and checks to see if you can download the files within your limits. 7. If the chat toggle flag is set to allow paging, then the BBS displays "paging SYSOP (CTRL-C to Abort). ." followed by bells and more dots. 4. If the SYSOP is around and wants to chat with you, he will see the flashing and initiate the chat function. During chat, if ANSI mode is selected, your text will be a different color than his. ANSWER: In the C:\BBS\ACP directory, there are .NFO and .ANS and .ASC files. Each one has a name that corresponds to the conference access that a user has. So, if a file is named SYSOP.NFO, that is an access name. In the usereditor, there is a field that says "Conf. Access". By putting SYSOP in that blank, the user will have access to all conferences listed in the sysop.nfo. Also, the sysop.ans conference selection screen will be shown to someone who has SYSOP access. If the file was call TRSI.NFO, .ANS, and .ASC, then you would put the word TRSI in the "Conf. Access". As for making and deleteing con- ferences, go into the main BBS directory and edit the file CONFCFG.CF0. You will see how they are made by looking in this file. QUESTION: I want to add a few SysOps and Co-SysOps to the multi-comment door (C from the main menu). How would I do this? ANSWER: First you must edit MULTICOM.CFG file in the main BBS Directory. The number at the top is the number of SysOp and Co-Sysops you want in the comment door. The names below this are the names of the SysOps and Co-SysOps in the order you have them in the MULTICOM.ANS (located in the TEXT directory). After finishing this, you must edit the MULTICOM.ANS to show the names of the people you have just put in the MULTICOM.CFG. Also, make a note that when the user picks the SysOp or Co-SysOp he wants to mail, it shows a brief comment from the SysOp or Co-SysOp he chose. These can be made or modified with the MCOMX.ANS files in the TEXT directory. The X stands for the number of the SysOp or Co-SysOp that has been selected. Take a look at these files to get a better idea of how this works. QUESTION: How do I change the words and colors of the strings (such as prompts and commands)? ANSWER: Go into the main BBS directory and edit the STRS1.CF0 file. This file contains most of the strongs found in the BBS. To change the color of a string, use @X0x, where the small x is the number of the color (consult a program such as THE DRAW for the numbers for each different color). QUESTION: What is this "Conference Accounting" in the User Editor, and why are the person's ratios different than those that I have set in the User Editor? ANSWER: Conference Accounting is an option that allows the information set in the USERS.CNF file (located in each conference directory) to be the ACTUAL information that is used for the user. To edit this, copy the CF.EXE from the main BBS directory into your the conference directory, and execute it. Now search for the user you wish to edit (using F2). If you'll notice, there are fields to change the persons ratio, ratio type (0= Bytes and # of Files, 1= # of files ONLY, 2= Bytes ONLY, 3= Disabled Ratios), daily byte limits, etc. These are the information used for the user IF Conference Accounting is set in the main user editor. QUESTION: I have given ever user with access 50 access to a certain command. But there is this one user who I don't want to have the option of listing users. How would I change a certain user's eaccess to certain commands without messing up everybody else's access? ANSWER: Go into the User Editor and hit F5. In this screen, you will see a list of all of the commands from the main menu. By tagging the User Defined Keys option in the lower right-hand corner of this screen, you will activate the option to use these commands. So, after tagging the User Defined Commands option, you must tag each command that you wnat the user to have access to. If the command is not tagged, then the user will NOT be able to access it. QUESTION: I want to run more than two doors. How do I accomplish this? ANSWER: Reg! QUESTION: I have set-up Evolution for more than one node. How do I set-up multi-node chat? ANSWER: At this time there is not multi-node chat in Evolution. In the near future releases, however, there will be. QUESTION: How does the Bulletins system work? ANSWER: When you have a utilitie that produces an ANSi or/and ASCii file, you can have it displayed at logon and re-created with new info at log-off. To do this, make a batch file that loads the board. In this batch file also include the name of a second batch file that will run your utilitied. So, if you had a utility called TOP.EXE, then you would put it in the second bacth file like this: @echo off cd\bbs top 15 copy top.ans + logon.ans c:\bbs\text\bullall.ans copy top.ans + logon.ans c:\bbs\text\bullall.asc This would not only execute the utility, but it would also take the files created by it and copy them over to the bulletins directory into a file called BULLALL.ANS or .ASC. When a user logons to the BBS, the BULLALL.ANS or .ASC file is displayed after the LASTCALL.ANS screen. So, if you had multiple utilities, you would copy each newly produced screen into one big BULLALL.ANS file, and each would be displayed at login. Also, if you want a utility that produces a bulletin to be displayed from the bulletins menu, copy it to the BULLS directory as a BULLX.ANS or .ASC file, with the X standing for the # that you press from the Bulletin Menu to display the actual bulletin. QUESTION: How do I upload files myself? ANSWER: First, make sure that you have the files you want uploaded in the WORK directory. Then, go the main menu, and type local. You should be able to handle it from there. QUESTION: I have a FOSSIL driver. Does Evolution support it? ANSWER: Evolution supports both FOSSIL drivers and UART 16550 chips. There is no switch-option in config or anything like that, you need different exe-file for both Fossil and Uart, if you dont have each one of these you can obtain a version from the WHQ, Propaganda (see Final Words, below). ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Part #13 - Final Words ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ok, that should be it for this time, these docs are not the final there are many other things that should be explained, but i just didn't have enough time for writing so complete docs. So, if there is something you want to know or ask, just call Evolution WHQ bbs (Propaganda +358-0-8792853) and leave comment to sysop. Also from now on, we will be releasing bugfix-updates more often.
