Now that winter break is almost over, we are almost ready to release the
next version of the Illusion BBS software, numbered 1.99 beta 5. Because
Illusion is not commercial software, we have not had a lot of time to work
on it between college and other stuff, but we are currently still helping
users with technical support.

Beta 5 doesn't have a slew of new features like the previous betas did, but
beta 5 does feature a new, rewritten QWK system that has been left out in
the 1.99 series since we began rewriting the message system. The main
documentation is also more complete than it has been in previous betas. We
have also fixed a number of bugs found in beta 4. If there are any more
bug reports, please send them to us immediately so we have time to fix it
for this release. Unlike the previous betas 1-4, I think that beta 5 will
be stable enough to run as the BBS. Officially, however, 1.94 was the last
public release.

Because the most recent public version, beta 4, was released back in July
before we had a stable permanent list of methods to contact us, here's an
update on how to contact us:

By email: Kyle Oppenheim <kyleo@andrew.cmu.edu> and Billy Ma
<bxm170@psu.edu>
By www:  http://www.andrew.cmu.edu/user/kyleo/illusion.html or
http://www.contrib.andrew.cmu.edu/~kyleo/illusion.html
By ftp:  ftp://outerlimits.res.cmu.edu/pub/Illusion
By IRC (EfNet): My nickname is voivode, and you can occasionally find me
on #bbswarez or #IllusionBBS.

Our support BBSes are no longer up now that we're both at college.
Infinite Dimensions, our last alpha site, went down in August when I came
to Penn State.

For more information, feel free to email me with your questions and/or
comments. I don't check the newsgroups very often.
